Overview 

Art & Soul Collective, led by Karen Ard, invites you to take part in an exciting collaborative collage project — a creative twist on the classic Exquisite Corpse. This unique project will be exhibited in celebration of World Collage Day, showcasing the power of community, creativity, and collective imagination. 

● Fee: Sliding scale $10-$25+ (This is to help offset coordinators costs and assist those that cannot afford as much, so they too can participate. We believe art should be for all!)

Goals 

• Foster collaboration and connection among local artists. 

• Celebrate and spotlight the vibrant medium of collage. 

• Bring attention to artists working in community and the importance of supporting the arts. 

• Show the work in a gallery setting. ○

  • As of this writing a location is being searched for. It is the goal of the project coordinator to not only secure a space but to hopefully also have the pieces for sale, splitting proceeds of sold pieces between artists. 

  • Art should be created for something bigger than a juried show: For the passion of creating art in exquisite community. 

How It Works 

Each Exquisite Corpse collage will be created in provided 14” x 17” sections by a team of three artists, working together — but with a twist! 

• Artist 1 will begin the piece, creating their section within one week, then covering their work so it’s hidden from the next participant. 

• Artist 2 will add their section, only seeing a small portion where the two sections connect, then pass it along — again keeping their work hidden. 

• Artist 3 will complete the final section, bringing the collaborative collage to life. 

These collages need to be majority paper collage and in 2d so they can old flat. This process invites playful experimentation, surprise, and creative dialogue between artists — all without seeing the full picture until the very end. We can’t wait to see the magic that unfolds when we create together! 

Time Line

• March 21: Artist application deadline 

• March 24: Packets with the 14”x17” substrate paper, newsprint to cover your section, and team info start going out. (Artists to use their own collage papers)

• April 28: Packet delivery date

• May 10: Show/World Collage Day

• Packets will go out the week of March 24. You will have one week to work on your section and get the packet in the mail to the next artist on your list. Approx postage cost: $6.
